The Servant of God: A Source of Peace and Courage

Finding Comfort in God’s Devotees

In a world full of uncertainty and fear, Brahmanand Swami offers a simple yet profound remedy: love the servants of God. He writes,

“Love the servant of God, sincere…
The servant of God always brings peace,
And makes all fear of death to cease.”

The Haridas—one who lives to serve Bhagwan—becomes a source of calmness and courage for all who associate with him. His very presence radiates faith and tranquility. In his company, our hearts grow lighter, and even life’s greatest fears—pain, loss, and death—begin to lose their power.

The Power of Saintly Association

Transforming Love into Liberation

Brahmanand Swami explains that in the company of saints, we experience a love that never fades.

“In saints’ true company we find,
A love for God that will not unwind.”

This is avināshi prīti—an eternal love that neither time nor circumstance can destroy. Such affection does not bind us to the world; it frees us from it. Saints, through their purity and truth, help us break free from the endless cycles of kāl (time) and karma (deeds).

“They speak the truth and break the chain
Of karma’s grip and mortal pain.”

Their words and actions carry divine energy. Just as sunlight naturally dispels darkness, saintly association dissolves ignorance and fear.

Fearless Devotion: Rising Above Worldly Opinions

Courage in Worship

“Worship your Lord with steady heart,
Let not the world’s scorn make you part.”

Brahmanand Swami urges devotees to worship without fear or hesitation. True devotion requires courage—the courage to stand firm even when others mock or misunderstand. The world may not always value spiritual living, but a devotee’s strength lies in remaining unwaveringly loyal to Bhagwan.

In essence, he’s saying: don’t let the laughter of others drown out your love for God. Faith is not meant to please the world; it’s meant to please the One who created it.

Freedom from Worldly Attachments

“Brahmanand says: now rise and go —
Leave worldly bonds and all below.”

This final call from Brahmanand Swami is both poetic and practical. To “leave worldly bonds” doesn’t mean abandoning responsibilities—it means releasing attachment. It means living in the world while staying anchored in God.

The Spiritual Equation of Love, Saints, and God

How Loving Saints Leads Us to God

Brahmanand Swami’s teaching can be summed up in one spiritual equation:

Love for Saints = Love for God.

Why? Because true saints live not for themselves but for Him. They have surrendered their minds, words, and actions entirely to God’s will. Their lives are the reflection of His compassion and truth.

When we love such saints, we absorb their virtues. Their calmness becomes our calmness. Their courage becomes our courage. Gradually, our hearts are purified, and we begin to feel what they feel—the quiet joy of being close to Bhagwan.

The BAPS Way: Love in Action

In the BAPS tradition, devotees express this love through seva (service), bhakti (devotion), and satsang (spiritual fellowship). To serve the Satpurush, to follow his guidance, and to keep company with sadhus and devotees—these are not mere rituals. They are acts of love that transform the soul.

“The servant of God always brings peace,
And makes all fear of death to cease.”

When we live this way, we too become instruments of peace, spreading the same divine calm that once inspired us.
