God is your greatest ally…

Estimated read time 3 min read

In the journey of life, we often lean on many—family, friends, mentors, companions—but as the wise have always said, God is our only true ally. No one else, however close, truly belongs to us in the deepest sense. The Vedas and Puranas—the ancient spiritual texts—clearly advise us to engage in the remembrance and service of the Divine. Yet many of us, caught in the haze of ego or laziness, dismiss this path. We sit idle, distracted, without direction or honest purpose, even as time slips away.

Our attachments in this world—parents, spouse, children, friends—while dear and loving, cannot accompany us beyond death. When the end comes, we must walk that final path alone. All worldly ties are left behind, unable to help us when it matters most. The truth is stark but liberating: no one can walk your spiritual path for you.

The world is a web of selfishness, full of deceptive allure and short-lived pleasures. Without the company of enlightened souls—the saints and spiritually realized beings—we lose our way. Their guidance is not a luxury, but a necessity. They point us toward the light when the world distracts us with shadows.

Even the greatest of minds and mightiest of rulers, the wisest kings and fiercest warriors, have all faced the inevitability of death. Brilliance and bravery did not spare them. “Our turn will come too,” reminds Devanand. So while we live, let us live truthfully. Let us speak what is real, do what is right, and keep our focus on the one who truly belongs to us—Hari, the Divine.
