VerseTranslation
Narad aise sant sada mohe pyara….Narada, such a Sant is dear to me,
Loved forever, eternally.
Jad chaitanku jani jatharath,
rahat jagatse nyara…
Knowing matter & spirit as they truly are,
he dwells apart from the world-he stands afar.
Gnan vairagya aru bhakti ke bhajan,
janat sãr asara;
Brahmabhuvan lagi kal chavina,
manat juth pasara…
A vessel of knowledge, of bhakti, renunciation,
He knows what is true and false in creation;
All realms below Akshar he calls in vain,
For time consumes them, none remain.
Mere vachan achal ur rakhat,
mam gun magan udara;
Sab par moy jani ur dharat,
mam pad prem apãrá…
My words he keeps with steadfast heart,
In my virtues absorbed, in compassion’s part;
He sees me supreme, in all he beholds,
With endless love that never grows cold.
Mam gun shravan manan ur mero,
mam jash karat uchara;
Muktanand kahat yu Mohan,
tehi ur vas hamara
My virtues he hears, reflects in mind,
Proclaims my glory with voice refined;
Muktanand says-hear, O Narada well,
In such a Sant’s heart do I dwell.

In this beautiful teaching, Sant Muktanand describes to Narada the qualities of a true Sant—the one who is forever dear to the Divine. Such a Sant is not bound by the world, for he knows matter and spirit as they truly are. With wisdom that pierces illusion, he lives apart from worldly entanglements, his heart free and clear.

This Sant is filled with knowledge, devotion, and renunciation. He sees through the play of creation, recognizing what is lasting and what is transient. All realms—even those up to Brahma’s abode—he counts as impermanent, for time itself consumes them. Only the eternal remains real in his vision.

What anchors him is his unshakable faith in the word of the Divine. He holds God’s virtues close, absorbed in compassion, humility, and truth. With boundless love, he sees the presence of the Supreme in all beings, never separating himself from that vision.

Such a Sant delights in hearing, reflecting, and chanting the glory of the Divine. His speech, his thought, his heart are all centered on that one truth. As Sant Muktanand declares to Narada, it is in the heart of such a Sant that the Lord himself chooses to dwell.

This portrait of the true Sant is not merely a description but an invitation. It urges us to seek that depth of devotion and clarity, where faith is steadfast, wisdom is discerning, and love flows unceasingly toward the Divine.
