VerseTranslation
Narad aise sant sada mohe pyara….Narada, such a Sant is dear to me,
Loved forever, eternally.
Jad chaitanku jani jatharath,
rahat jagatse nyara…
Knowing matter & spirit as they truly are,
he dwells apart from the world-he stands afar.
Gnan vairagya aru bhakti ke bhajan,
janat sar asara;
Brahmabhuvan lagi kal chavina,
manat juth pasara…
A vessel of knowledge, of bhakti, renunciation,
He knows what is true and false in creation;
All realms below Akshar he calls in vain,
For time consumes them, none remain.
Mere vachan achal ur rakhat,
mam gun magan udara;
Sab par moy jani ur dharat,
mam pad prem apãrá…
My words he keeps with steadfast heart,
In my virtues absorbed, in compassion’s part;
He sees me supreme, in all he beholds,
With endless love that never grows cold.
Mam gun shravan manan ur mero,
mam jash karat uchara;
Muktanand kahat yu Mohan,
tehi ur vas hamara
My virtues he hears, reflects in mind,
Proclaims my glory with voice refined;
Muktanand says-hear, O Narada well,
In such a Sant’s heart do I dwell.

In this verse by Muktanand Swami, Bhagwan describes to Narad the qualities of a true Sant that make him forever dear to the Divine. Such a Sant is not bound by the world. For he knows the perishable and the imperishable, as they truly are. With clear wisdom, the true Sant rises above all the worldly ties, and his heart is free, pure, and beyond.

The true Sant embodies knowledge, devotion, and detachment. He understands what is real and what will fade away. Even the highest worlds, up to Brahma’s abode, he sees as temporary, because time engulfs them. Only the eternal stays true in his eyes.

What anchors him is his unshakable faith in the word of the Divine. He holds God’s virtues close, absorbed in compassion, humility, and truth. With boundless love, he sees the presence of the Supreme in all beings, never separating himself from that vision.

A true Sant delights in hearing, reflecting, and chanting the glory of Bhagwan. His words, his thoughts, and his deeds are all centered on that one truth. Bhagwan further explains to Narad that it is in the heart of such a Sant that the Bhagwan himself chooses to stay, forever.

This description of the true Sant is more than words; it is an invitation. It invites us to develop that deep devotion, clear wisdom, and a love that always flows toward and is centered around Bhagwan. The true Sant is our compass and guide in this journey.
