In our spiritual journey, there comes a moment when we are called to lay aside our ego and worldly pride, and wholeheartedly attach our hearts to the divine. This timeless wisdom, echoed in the words of saints like Muktanand, invites us to cast off our concern for public opinion and fully embrace the company of the righteous—those saintly souls whose presence uplifts and transforms. When we surround ourselves with true sadhus, we begin to shed the inner turmoil born of desire and attachment. Their purity helps calm the storms within, leading our minds to rest at the feet of Mohan—another name for Lord Krishna.
It is through this association and unwavering devotion to Hari (God) that one attains greatness—not the fleeting kind the world offers, but a spiritual richness that transcends the cycle of birth and death. When the mind is anchored in God, it no longer seeks distractions or wanders into worldly delusions. It becomes steady, much like the steadfast devotion of Dhruv and other saints, whose stories serve as luminous examples of faith and surrender. Their lives teach us the kind of devotion that remains unmoved by the pulls of pleasure or pain, rooted in unshakable love for the divine.
Equally important on this path is discernment: to stay away from harmful company and resist the temptation to gossip or highlight the flaws of others. True devotion requires humility—not just before God, but also before those who serve Him. As Muktanand beautifully reminds us, the highest spiritual posture is that of becoming a servant to the servants of God. In that humility, in that love for the holy, lies the true liberation of the soul.
