Verse | Translation |
Sant jan soi sada mohe bhave… | That saint alone is dear to me, Whose heart is pure, whose soul is free. |
Deh indriya aru man adik ke, sangme nahi laptave | Body, senses, and restless mind, In their embrace he is not entwined. |
Kam krodh aru lobh moh vash, hoy na man lalchave; Mero hi dhyan ratan mukh mero, so taji anya na jave | Lust, anger, greed shall never sway; Delusion leads him not astray; On lips, in mind, my name will stay; From me he never turns away. |
Kshar Akshar aru Akshar parki, sab hi samaj ur lave; Sab gun puran param viveki, gun ko man na ave | He knows the perishing, imperishable, too, And the Supreme beyond, with wisdom true; Perfect in virtue, in judgment clear, Yet pride of merit never comes near. |
Pind brahmandse par nij atma, jani ke mam gun gave; Muktanand kahat yu Mohan, soi jan sant kahãve | Beyond body and cosmos vast, He knows the soul that ever lasts; Sings of my glory with steady voice, Muktanand says: such is the saint of choice. |
In the wisdom of the saints, the path of true devotion is beautifully described. A saint, it is said, is not simply one who wears the garb of holiness, but one whose heart is pure and whose soul is free. Such a being does not remain entangled in the pull of body, senses, and restless mind. Desires of lust, anger, greed, or delusion cannot sway him, nor does he allow his heart to be led astray. His lips and mind remain absorbed in the divine name, and from that remembrance he never departs.
True saints carry an inner vision that perceives the perishable and the imperishable alike, even the Supreme beyond all. They are filled with every virtue, yet remain free from the pride of goodness. Their wisdom shines, not as a badge of ego, but as a lamp of clarity. With insight beyond body and cosmos, they know the self as eternal, and in that knowledge, they sing only of the divine glory.
As Sant Muktanand reminds us, such is the saint who is truly worthy of the name. Not by outward show, but by inner freedom, purity, and constant remembrance of the Beloved does one become dear to God. In learning from their example, we too are invited to turn within, loosen the grip of worldly entanglements, and let the name of the Divine echo unceasingly in our hearts.
